Juine
The Juine is a river of France, long 55 km, tributary of left bank of the the Essonne.
Geography
It takes its source in the Département of Loiret, in the wood of Chambaudoin, close to Autruy-on-Juine.
The origin of its name comes to him from the hamlet of Juines which it skirts before returning in the department of the Essonne where it crosses several communes:
Méréville, Saint-Cyr-the-River, Ormoy-the-River, Stamps, Étréchy, Chamarande, Janville-on-Juine, Bouray-on-Juine, Lardy.
It joined the Essonne with the Ballancourt-on-Essonne, after having crossed the parks of many castles (Saint-Vrain, Chamarande, Mesnil Voisin…) fed of many mills now abandoned.
15th century at the 18th century, it formed with the Essonne and the Seine, an inland waterway, empuntée by flat-bottomed boats which transported corn of Beauce towards Paris.

Hydrology
Like the other rivers beauceronnes, the such Conie or the Sour which has the same type of mode, and compared with the other rivers of the Paris basin, Juine is a very regular river, profiting from the tablecloth of Beauce which acts as a powerful regulator (characteristic that one finds also in particular in Champagne chalky and in the Belgian Hesbaye). A good portion of its flow comes indeed from this tablecloth, and the mode of the river is largely dependant on the level of water in the tablecloth.
-
the tablecloth of Beauce has a storage capacity estimated at 20 billion cubic meters, is 20 kilometers cubic or eighteen times the volume of the Lac of Annecy… It play a regulating part of the very important flow of the rivers, because it contributes to the natural food of the rivers which are bound to him, the such Loing, the Loir, the the Essonne, the Conie, etc It provides to the whole of these rivers a mass of approximately 500 million m ³ per annum on average, that is to say 16 m ³ a second approximately.
The flow of Juine was observed for one 21 years period (1961-1981), with Bouray-on-Juine, locality located little before its confluence with the the Essonne. The catchment area of the river is there of 700 km ² is it quasi totality of this one.
The interannual medium flow or module of the river with Bouray-on-Juine is of 2,96 m ³ a second.
Juine has only very low seasonal oscillations of flow, being able to summarize itself in two periods: one long period of " high eaux" and very a short period of summer when the flow one nothing is attenuated. One cannot speak about season of low waters in connection with Juine. The average monthly flow oscillates between 2,89 to 3,19 m ³ a second, of at the beginning of October at the end of July (with a light in February maximum). In August, the medium flow drops somewhat and reaches from the start its minimum of 2,63 m ³ this same month, follow-up of 2,65 in September. As of October, the river finds its maximum flow.
With the low water level the VCN3 can however fall until 1,5 m ³, in the event of dry quinquennial period, that is to say 1500 liters a second, which is much less severe than the VCN3 of Conie for example (the VCN3 of the latter is nearly three times less (550 liters) with a module lower by only one third), and is due to a strong drawdown in the underground layer. The VCN3 is the past minimal quantity or minimal flow over three days consecutive.
As for the risings, they are hardly important. The QIX 2 and QIX 5 or calculated flows of biennial and quinquennial rising are worth respectively 4,6 and 5,6 m ³ a second. The QIX 10 or calculated flow of decennial rising is of 6,3 m ³ a second, the QIX 20 of 6,9 m ³, while the QIX 50 was not calculated (see note).
The maximum instantaneous flow recorded with Bouray-on-Juine during this period, was of 5,6 m ³ a second on February 1st, 1970, while the maximum daily output was of 7,55 m ³ a second on December 18th, 1981.
On the whole, one can say that Juine is a river relatively not very abundant in the area beauceronne but very regular in the course of the years. Blade of water past in its area catchment is of 133 millimetres annually (against 129 millimetres for the Dormouse, 163 for Conie and 182 for the Sourness), which is definitely lower than the average of the basin of the Seine (more or less 240 millimetres), but also lower than the average of the basin of the the Essonne his/her river-mother (142 millimetres). The specific Débit of the river (or Qsp) does not reach of this weak fact that one 4,2 liters a second and per square kilometer of basin, rather poor performance, even in the area.
