Judith Miller , born in 1948 with New York, is a Journaliste of American investigation for the NewYork Times . It, in particular, carried out reports on exiled political Iraq iens remaining in the United States, such Ahmed Chalabi, which would not be objective information sources. In 2005, it is implied in the Controverse Cooper-Miller-Novak.

Biography

It began its career with the NewYork Times in 1977.

It is the object of controversies in 1986, whereas it had written a series of articles on the Libya, which belonged to a misinformation campaign against Mouammar Kadhafi, and which was orchestrated at the time by the admiral John Poindexter, an officer now discussed in the United States.

In the Years 2000, it is the target of many criticisms, because it published false informations on the weapons of massive destruction (WMD) Iraq iennes. In September 2002, it brings back the interception of metal tubes intended for Iraq, which were, it seems, intended for the construction of atomic weapons. However, one year earlier, a Physicist with the retirement of the national laboratory of Oak Ridge, Houston G. Wood III, had produced a report/ratio for submission to the US government, in which he affirmed that these tubes could not be useful in Centrifugeuse S intended for enrichment of the Uranium, which contradicted the assertions of Miller.

October 12th, 2001, it receives a letter containing of the Anthrax at its office of the NewYork Times , but the powder in the envelope is only one show.

In spite of that, Condoleezza Rice, Colin Powell and Donald Rumsfeld, being based on the articles of Miller, declared with the Télévision that these tubes were intended for the production of WMD Iraqi. Other analyzes confirmed the conclusions of Wood. In the article Illicit Arms Kept Till Eve off War, year Iraqi Scientist Is Said to Assert , Miller continued by affirming that WMDS had been found in Iraq. Once again, several newspapers relayed this information, giving him even more credibility.

The May 26th 2004, one week after the government of the United States apparently cut the bridges with Ahmed Chalabi, a leading article of the NewYork Times admits that part of the articles affirming the imminence of the war with Iraq had strongly rested on the dires of Chalabi and others exiled opposed to the Iraqi mode. Same breath, the NewYork Times considered it regrettable that “information lending to controversy forever against-checked” (free translation of " information that was controversial allowed to stand unchallenged"). Although the leading article rejected the fault on independent journalists, several criticisms pointed out that ten of the twelve articles in fault were written by Miller (more details with).

The November 11th 2004, the same newspaper publishes an obituary on Yasser Arafat, chief of the Palestine. Written by Miller, of criticisms assert that it contains factual errors on the historical context.

In 2005, it is again implied in a controversy, that of Cooper-Miller-Novak.

July 6th 2005, it is imprisoned because of its refusal to give its sources in the business Valerie Plame, of the name of a agente of the the CIA whose identity had been revealed in the press in 2003. September 30th, it agrees to testify, its source having concerned it with its promise of confidentiality. Its testimony led to its release.

Towards mid-October 2005, the NewYork Times affirms that Miller wrote five articles, out of six in all, which were false with regard to the weapons of massive destruction in Iraq (see).

In 2001, it received jointly a Prix Pulitzer for its investigations into Al-Qaida and Usama Bin Laden.

Since 1993, it is married with Jason Epstein, a literary editor who already worked at Random House.
