In the primitive Church, a judaïsant is a Christian of Jewish origin which regarded the observance of the mosaic Loi (Circoncision, food mode, etc) as necessary to the hello.

This term particularly took a pejorative direction after the 3rd century, for décrier the Judéo-chrétiens groups like the ébionites and the Nazaréens, which believed that the Greek successors of Jesus needed the Circoncision. It was a term shortened to describe the oral tradition of the conversion of a Gentil into a Jew to make it able to observe the Jewish Law.
