Juanes

Juan Esteban Aristizábal Vásquez alias Juanes is a Chanteur, Guitariste, composer-songwriter Colombia N, born the August 9th 1972 with Medellin. Its pseudo is a fusion between its first first name and of the first Syllabe of its second first name.

Biography

Juanes was born with Medellin in Colombia. Juanes is at the same time author, type-setter, singer, guitarist, arranger and Co-producer of all his songs.

It starts to study the music at the seven years age. At 15 years, it forms its first group: Ekhymosis, a group of metal and becomes about it the leader with whom he sings and plays of the guitar to record five albums together. He forms part of it during twelve years before devoting himself to a career solo.

The singer is influenced by various extremely different musical currents: Los Visconti (Argentinian folklore), Carlos Gardel, Octavio Mesa, Led Zeppelin, Silvio Rodríguez, Jimi Hendrix, Eminem, Vicente Fernández, Metallica, Stereo Soda, Seru Giran…

In 1998, it settles in the town of Los Angeles (the United States of America) in order to develop its career in solo with Fíjate well which will leave (2000), it is an album which mixes Cumbia, Salsa, Rock and Funk produces by Argentinian the Gustavo Santaolalla. Amalgamating the consumed work guitaristic of Juanes with multiple styles of Latin rates/rhythms coming from its native Colombia, while also presenting introspective texts dealing of violence, social conscience and the loss of expensive beings, the Fijate Bien of Juanes belongs to the Latin kind Alternative. The title which gives its name to the album speaks because of having to pay attention to the antipersonnelles Mines with each step which one takes in his own native land.

Juanes receives seven nominations with the Latin Grammy Awards. The Légende wants that Juanes itself was so surprised of this recognition which he believed initially that he was not to be present at the ceremony of the nominations, thinking that he would be lost in the middle of all these famous names of pop stars latinos.

Juanes gains three Latin Grammy Awards, among which that of Better New Artist of the year. Juanes sang at the time of the ceremony.

The evening even of the handing-over of the prices, Juanes turns over to the studio to Los Angeles, to record there the demonstrations of more than 40 new songs which he wrote. What will form the framework of the second album of Juanes.

January 4th 2002, Juanes is found to divide the scene of the Apollo Theater of Harlem with Quincy Jones and Tony Bennett for the reading of the nominations of the 44e Grammy Awards. During the ceremony, Juanes discovers that it received a nomination for the best alternate album of Latin Rock'n'roll with Fijate Bien.

In April, the first individual one extracted from Dia Normal is sent to the radios of the the United States and Latin America. Entitled has Dios the pido ( I ask God ), this song is a prayer for the Paix who ask God to bless and to protect our families, our future children and all those which we love. It becomes a kind of anthem for peace adopted everywhere in the world latino, becoming number one in twelve countries out of three different continents. has Dios Pido will reach the 47 week old figure consecutive of presence in the classification Latin Hot Tracks of the Billboard (majority of this time having passed in Signal 5). In Colombia, the song remains more than four months of sharpened in the first place, making steal in glare the records of passages radios of Shakira and other artists Colombia NS.

May 21st, leaves Dia Normal . Dia Normal approaches the importance of the things for which we live: the family, spirituality, love and passion. Juanes compares the album at dawn according to the black night who was Fijate Bien .

Dia Normal is certified disc of gold in Colombia the very same day of its setting on sale. That continues until it is certified platinum, then multi-platinum in many countries among which the Colombia, the Mexico, the Spain and the market latino of the the United States. The album enters directly in the second place of the classification Latin Top Albums of the Billboard. Dia Normal became one of the albums of original songs in Spanish language more sold in the world.

Although Dia Normal left after the deadline making it possible to contribute to the Latin Grammy Awards 2002, the advanced diffusion of has Dios Pido place the song in the window of eligibility. Juanes thus receives three additional nominations with the Latin Grammy on July 24th: Song of the year, Better song rock'n'roll and Better video musical.

Mi sangre (2004) is the third album solo of Juanes. This album approaches topics like violence, the hope and the love.

Polemic around the song Camisa Negra

In Italy, Néo-fasciste S adopted this song in anthem of their ideology, by referring to the black Chemises of the duce Benito Mussolini.

Moreover: Juanes is dad of two little girls Luna (September 6th, 2003) and Paloma (June 2nd, 2005), with which he likes to pose. He wrote for his elder song (lullaby) You Guardián in his album semi sangre as well as a named song Luna in a normal día
