Juan Emilio Bosch there Gaviño

Juan Emilio Bosch Gaviño (June 30th 1909, Vega - November 1st 2001, Santo Domingo) was there the first democratically selected president of the Dominican Republic after the end of the dictatorship of Trujillo in 1961. He was also famous writer, author of short novels and tales.

In 1937, Bosch which was opposed to the dictatorial government of Rafaël Trujillo, had to be exiled. Thus it founded in 1939, with others exiled, the Dominican Revolutionary Parti (PRD), with Havana, Cuba.

After the execution of Trujillo in 1961, Bosch turned over in Dominican Republic and was elected president in December 1962 with the Dominican Revolutionary Parti, but was then dislocated of its functions by a coup d'etat, supported by the the United States, seven months after its socialist reforms.

In 1965, military officers rebelled against the Parliament to restore the government of Bosch, which caused 20.000 soldier sending, by the US president Lyndon Johnson, to subdue the revolution and thus to avoid a " another Cuba".

While separating from the PRD in 1973, it founded the Parti Dominican Release (PLD).

As a rival of Joaquín Balaguer, Bosch remained an important figure in the Politique of the Dominican Republic, it postulated in particular for the presidency with the PLD in 1978, 1982, 1986, 1990 and 1994.
