Juan Crisóstomo Falcón

Juan Crisóstomo Falcón (January 27th 1820 - April 29th 1870) was a president of Venezuela (1863 - 1868).

Member of the federal Liberal party Venezuelan, it was first once chair of Venezuela following a rebel movement in August 1859 but the rebellion was quickly crushed. He was then recognized legitimate president of Venezuela of 1863 with 1868, date on which a preserving revolution led by the general Jose Tadeo Monagas put an end to its mandate. He briefly was also reversed in 1865. At the end of its mandate, Falcón emigrated in Europe. He died in Martinique in 1870.

He was the first president to have abolished the Capital punishment.
