Juan Benigno Calved
Juan Benigno Vela Hervas (1843 - 1920) was a Ecuadorian Politician . He was born the July 10th 1843 with Ambato. His/her parents were called Juan Pío Vela and Mercedes Hervas. Its godfather was the historian Pedro Fermín Cevallos who gave his name to the central avenue of the town of Ambato. He carried out his primary studies in his birthplace and his secondary studies with Latacunga; where he knew the Master of Simón Bolívar, Simón Rodríguez. Later it obtained its diploma for the occupation of lawyer at the university of Quito.
It combined its activities of jurisconsult with the policy since it belonged to the liberal party. He fought for freedom and was persecuted several times in 1878. Besides he wrote in his newspaper El Espectador some political legacies soaked well . As a legislator, he wrote a Constitution. He was also joint author of the Laws of State education, Register and Civil wedding, the Code of Police force and well of others.
The February 24th 1877, it was named Inspecteur of the schools for the province of the Tungurahua and invests its own money for the benefit of the underprivileged schools. In addition to the policy, he also wrote some poems at the time of his stay in prison.
It Maria at Mercedes Ortega with which he had several children. At the end of its life, it became deaf and blind, but it continued its combat. He died in 1920.
