Famous characters
- Antoine-Laurent de Jussieu, botanist (1748-1836), decorated with the legion of honor in 1802. In 1817, it buys the field of Venteuil, which becomes a true intellectual center where Antoine-Laurent receives his friends, of which Andre-Marie Ampère, celebrates mathematician and physicist. The field is also a place of family festivals, since each year the family of Jussieu celebrated the Saint-Anthony there on October 15th. Very attached to this place, Antoine-Laurent chooses to finish his days with the castle of Venteuil and died there in 1836.
- Hippolyte Fizeau, physicist (1819-1896), raises François Arago. After great work, calculation speed of light, it accepted many prices such as the triennial price of the Institute of France in 1856, it entered the physical section of the Academy of Science to become about it the vice-president in 1877 then president the following year.

Crypt S Mérovingienne S: the crypts mérovingiennes of Jouarre gone back to 660, remain a single unit because they are oldest of Europe. - Benedictine abbey: the founded Benedictine abbey at the 7th century by saint Colomban de Luxeuil, still inhabited by a community bénédictine: to see Abbey Our-Lady-with-Jouarre.
- the Romance Tower, which shelters the store of the sisters, was built at the 11th century. One discovers an exposure there on the history of the abbey and it is possible to witness a audio-visual projection on the monastic life.
