Josué of the Place , born about 1596 with Saumur (Maine-et-Loire) where he died the 17 or on August 27th, 1655 or 1656 or 1665, is a theologist Protesting French. He was also known under the Latin name of Josua Placeus .

After studies with the Protestant Academy of Saumur, founded in 1599 by Philippe Duplessis-Mornay, it became professor of philosophy in 1621 there, station which it occupied until 1625 when he became Pasteur with Nantes. From 1631, it became again professor with the Academy of Saumur, theology this time. It will remain it until its death.

Raise John Cameron, it belonged, with Moïse Amyraut and Louis Cappel, with the theological movement of Saumur, which dissociated orthodoxy Calviniste of the Académie of Sedan.

Others

Josué of the Place was the cousin of Pierre of the Place, philosopher and first president of the Cour of the assistances of Paris, assassinated with the St. Bartholomew's Day Massacre.
