Josias Staedel, (Josias I Staedel)

It was born on September 25th, 1627 with Strasbourg, where it is baptized on September 28th, 1627. He dies on May 22nd, 1700 in Strasbourg at the 72 years age. Married in 1649 with Anna Magdalena Hüber, their fore-mentioned first wire also Josias (Josias II Staedel).

He is elected 4 times Am (1680, 1686,1692,1698). He was alderman with the Council of XV (1675, 1677) and with the Council of the XIII as from 1695.

He is owner of Gürtlerhof, Münsterpl. 13 with his/her sister Anna Katharina Staedel.

Typographer, Printer and Bookseller of Strasbourg. He printed initially, of 1648-52, in common with Philipp Muelb, became 1653 printer of the academy.

Josias Staedel, (Josias II Staedel)

He is born on September 23rd, 1651 in Strasbourg, he dies there in 1717. He will be " Obermeister zu Stelzen" , i.e. owner of the Corporation of the printers, one of the 28 corporations of trades of the town of Strasbourg. As from 1713, it will be the printer of the university.
