Joshua Redman
Joshua Redman , is a Saxophoniste American born the 1969 with Berkeley, California. Wire of the saxophonist Dewey Redman.
It leaves graduate the university of Harvard in 1991, and gains the Thelonious Monk International Jazz Saxophone Competition the same year and starts to be devoted to its musical career.
On the album Momentum recorded on the label Nonesuch Records, Joshua Redman is surrounded by Sam Yahel, Brian Blade, Jeff Ballard, the core of Elastic Band, but also of guests such as Me' Shell Ndegeocello, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Nicholas Payton. As with its practice, the album is mainly made up of originals (8 titles) but also of the recoveries, which are often winks with its musical tastes except jazz, (Led Zeppelin, Stevie Wonder, James Brown…). Tastes whose Joshua Redman clearly recognizes the influence on its music and in particular the influence of the Funk.
