Joshua Lederberg
Joshua Lederberg born in Montclair (New Jersey) in 1925 is a American Généticien.
He obtained his doctorate of 3rd cycle to the Université Yale in 1947 and teaches as from 1959 at the medical school of the Université Stanford. He discovers into 1947 that the Bactérie S have an elementary reproduction: they reproduce by conjugation, exchange reciprocal of Gène S between unicellular organizations sexually undifferentiated. This discovery is worth to him to divide in 1958 the Nobel Prize of medicine. It also shows that the Virus can transport the genetic material of a bacterium to another via a Bactériophage and thus modify the heredity of their host. From 1978 to 1990, it chairs the Université Rockefeller of the town of New York.
It introduces the first the term of Exobiologie into its article founder Approaches to life beyond the Earth .
