Joseph Villard

Joseph Villard (1838 - 1898) was a Photographe French.

Thanks to the experiment of his brother Jean-Marie Villard who met Nadar and Daguerre, Joseph created his famous workshop of Villard photography whose collection of postcards made the round the world tour. He traverses the Brittany with foot then with bicycle, the search of picturesque subjects or monuments, and constitutes with the passing of years an exceptional collection of more than 100.000 plates which, happily, could be preserved until today. The greatest part is preserved at the Museum of Brittany with Rennes. His/her son Joseph-Marie (1968-1935) took his succession in the Photographie like his grandson Joseph-Henri-Marie (1898-1981).

The Villard charts belong to the old postcards sought by the collectors.
