Joseph Noiret

Joseph Noiret is a surrealist Artiste Belgian born with Brussels in 1927.

It adheres to revolutionary surrealism in 1947 when it meets Christian Dotremont and cofonde with him the movement CoBrA which it animates until his dissolution in 1951.

In 1953, it founds and directs, with Marcel Havrenne and Theodore Kœnig, the review Phantomas of which it will be one of the principal organizers (1953-1981).

As from 1972, it creates with Serge Vandercam works with four hands: joinings words, sculptures words, gouaches words, works where the poet and the painter are inspired mutually in the moment when they create a work each time single: forms, colors and words are imbricated and lead to a joining words which is completed on a poem written with the hand.

From 1980 to 1992, it directs the National school superior of visual Arts of Cambre (Brussels), founded by Henry van of Velde. It reorganizes its teaching and carries the School on the higher level of the artistic teaching of the State. It opens three workshops: the Drawing , the Stylism and the Restoration of the works of art .

In 1998, with Guy Dotremont, it gathers and prefaces Cobraland , a whole of texts of Christian Dotremont accompanied by illustrations of artists of CoBrA.

In 2004, it publishes a history of CoBrA: ChronoCobra .

Art Critic, it prefaces many exposures of painting. Since 1992, it publishes the review '' the Pub '' (21 numbers published in 2006).

Poet and critical, it publishes collections of poems:

  • the devouring Adventure (ill. pol. Bury, 1950)
  • Natural histories of Crevêche (ill. Mogens Ball)
  • the Eye, the ear and the place (1974)
  • Space obliques (ill. Godfried Wiegand, 1986)
  • the Test card of time (ill. Serge Vandercam)
  • Conversation of Bierges with Serge Vandercam (1992)
  • With the improvist (45 specimens with engravings of Francis Rollet, 2001)

His/her daughter Michele Noiret is one of principal the Chorégraphe S Belgian current.
