Joseph Lanner
Joseph Lanner is a Compositeur, Violoniste and Leader Autrichien, born in 1801 and died in 1843. It is particularly famous to have written several hundreds of Danse S for Orchestre, including at least 200 waltz, which made of him, with Johann Strauss I, the precursor of the Valse Viennese.
Biography
From its complete name, Joseph Franz Karl Lanner , it was born the April 12th 1801 with Vienna, in the district of Sankt Ulrich.
In 1820, it created a Quintette, in which it played of the Violon and Johann Strauss I of the viola, quintet which was transformed quickly into a more important orchestra turning in the cabarets of Vienna, particularly in the district of the Prater.
Differences in opinion on the style of music ended up separating the two friends, leading Strauss to assemble its own orchestra then to less give a “rigid” style and more “elegant” to the Viennese waltz.
Joseph Lanner died the April 14th 1843 with Oberdöbling, at the 42 years age. He was buried with the central cemetery ( Zentral Friedhof ) of Vienna, where he was joined, after their respective deaths, by Johann Strauss I and Johann Strauss II (their three tombs are close one to the other).
