Joseph Légaré
Joseph Légaré (March 10th 1795 - June 21st 1855) was a Québécois painter.
Native of Quebec, he is an autodidact. He begins his training in 1812 and becomes Master in 1817.
It asset a certain number of tables of the “Desjardins Collection”, which were saved destruction during the French revolution, between 1793 and 1795. Until 1828, it improved by making copies or while taking as a starting point these tables.
He taught painting with Antoine Plamondon. He is itself author of more than 250 works. Légaré is the first Canadian landscape designer and was underestimated a long time, because of its use of novel methods
