Joseph Keilberth

Joseph Keilberth is a German Leader , born with Karlsruhe the April 19th 1908 and died with Munich the July 20th 1968.

Biography

He is a specialist in Richard Wagner in particular, which he frequently directed to the Festival of Bayreuth as from 1952. From 1950 with its death, it was with the head of the Symphony orchestra of Bamberg, town of size modest but equipped with one of the most prestigious phalanges of Germany.

Immensely gifted - Sergiu Celibidache admired it much - but not very inclined with the repetitions, Keilberth left, following the example Hans Knappertsbusch, recordings where the stroke of genius neighbor with carelessness more dismaying, on a mode however more pleasant and smiling that of its famous elder.

Repertory

Its discography includes/understands Symphonie S of Ludwig van Beethoven, of Brahms, Bruckner, Schumann and Dvořák as well as works of Mozart and Pfitzner. It also frequently appeared as a chief invited to the Festival of Salzburg.
