Joseph Jean François Lemaire , French dental surgeon, (March 8th 1782, Mayenne - February 22nd 1834, Houses-Alfort)

Biography

It made its medical studies with the medical school of Paris, and was devoted more particularly to the art of the dentist, than it practiced strong young person with much success in the capital.

It was one of the two deputy ones that its fellow-citizens sent to Paris, on January 14th, 1790, to make allot to Mayenne the title of chief town of the department. He died in Houses-Alfort the February 22nd 1854. Joseph Lemaire had been appointed dentist of the King de Bavière, and Chevalier of Saint-Hubert. He left works and treaties on the teeth.

  • the Dentist of the ladies, works dedicated to the fair sex , Paris, 1812, in-18, with the portrait of the author and an engraving; 2nd edition, decorated of 4 engravings, corrected and increased by a pharmaceutical Formulaire extracts from the best works, and relative to the various remedies which one must employ for the nurses, the infants, and the toothpastes preparations, etc , Paris, 1818, in-12. ;
  • Treated on the teeth. Physiology . Paris, 1820, in-4°;
  • Natural history of the diseases of the teeth of the mankind , in two parts, with 25 boards, by Joseph Fox; work translated from English, Paris, 1821, in-4°;
  • Treated on the teeth , Paris, 1822-1821, 5 vol. in-8°. The first volume contains the Physiologie ;
  • Several memories relating to the art of the dentist, in the newspapers and collections of medicine of the time.
