Joseph Hilarius Eckhel
Joseph Hilarius Eckhel (1737, Enzersfeld - May 16th 1798), Austrian numismatist, about the Jesuits.
He was director of the Cabinet of the medals of Vienna, and professor of antiquities. He embraced all the parts of the numismatics, and published a great treaty De Doctrina nummarum , in 8 volumes in-4, Vienna, 1792 - 1798. The medals are distributed there in the order of the cities which made them strike.
