Joseph Fleuriau d\' Armenonville

Joseph Jean-Baptiste Fleuriau d' Armenonville is a magistrate and French politician born in Paris the January 22nd 1661 and died in the Château of Madrid the November 27th 1728.

Joseph Fleuriau d' Armenonville begins his career while obtaining thanks to his brother-in-law, Claude the Furrier of Morfontaine, General inspector of finances between 1683 and 1689, a place of first clerk in the offices of the administration of finances. He buys then an office of advising with the Parlement of Metz then of Intendant of finances (1690 - 1701), is named managing director of finances, baillif and captain of Chartres and finally to advise State of six-month period (May 10th 1705).

In 1716, the chancellor Daniel Voysin of Noiraye yields to him for 400.000 books its load of Secretary of foreign affairs which did not correspond to any function since the introduction of the Polysynodie and was not, according to the word of Saint-Simon, “which an inanimate carcass from load, but which could be raised and pass to his/her son”. August 25th 1721, Fleuriau d' Armenonville obtains indeed for his/her son, Charles Jean Baptiste Fleuriau de Morville (1686 - 1732), the survival of its secretariat of State. Fleuriau de Morville will be actually named secretary of foreign affairs on August 16th 1723.

On its side, Fleuriau d' Armenonville is named Secretary of State to the Navy on September 24th 1718 to replace the count de Toulouse which leaves the council of Regency. There remain to it until February 28th 1722, date on which he yields the place to his son to be itself named Minister of Justice of France on February 28th 1722. He resigns of this load on August 14th 1727, little before his death.

In 1699, it buys to the duke of Uzès, of which he is the creditor, the Château of Rambouillet for the sum of 140.000 books. In a few years, it made there make for 500.000 books of work. But it must yield the property to the count de Toulouse in 1706, obtaining exchanges of them 500.000 books, the harbor office of huntings of the Bois de Boulogne and the close plains and, for this reason, the pleasure of the Château of Madrid.
