Joseph Ducreux
Joseph Ducreux , born with Nancy on June 26th, 1735 and dead on July 24th, 1802, is a Portrait ist French, Pastel list, miniaturist and engraver.
He had to initially study his art with his father, painter also. In Paris in 1760, he works with Maurice Quentin of the Tower, specialist in the portrait. With regard to the technique of Ducreux for the oil-base paint, the influence of Jean-Baptiste Greuze is very important.
Specialist in the portrait, Ducreux has as models of his first pastels: Pierre-Jean Mariette, the Count de Caylus and Angel Laurent Lalive de Jully. These works must be copies according to Georges of the Tower.
