Joseph Daul

Joseph Daul is a French Politician, appointed European (UMP-PPE), born the April 13rd 1947 with Strasbourg (the Low-Rhine).

Biography

Farmer of formation, it is elected appointed European in 1999. He is president of the Committee on Agriculture and rural development to the the European Parliament between 2002 and 2007. He was also member of the Economic and Social Council (1991-1999).

Mayor of Pfettisheim of 1989 with 2001, it is since this date mayor-assistant. Joseph Daul is graduate Institut of the high studies of national defense (IHEDN).

He was elected, Tuesday January 9th 2007, president of the group PPE-DE, group of the Christian Democrats, the the European Parliament and thus succeeds Hans-Gert Pöttering (CDU).

Joseph Daul is officer of the agricultural Mérite (1987), knight of the National order of the Merit (1994) and knight of the Légion of honor (1997).
