Joseph Cornudet of Chaumettes , born the September 15th 1755 with Crocq (Digs), dead the September 13rd 1834 with Paris, is a politician French.
Lawyer with the Parliament of Paris, he is general lieutenant with the Bailliage of Montaigut-in-Combraille in 1789. Partisan of the novel ideas, Cornudet of Chaumettes becomes Prosecutor-syndic with Felletin in 1790, then is elected appointed with the legislative Assemblée the September 23rd 1791, 3rd on 7 by 252 votes out of 330 voters. He plays a modest part with the Parliament, but is named, after the 9-Thermidor, police chief close the court of the Creuse. Thereafter, under the Directory, he is elected appointed the 21 Germinal An V (April 10th 1797) with the Conseil of Old the, where he sits among the moderate ones, claims the pleasure of the political rights for the old noble ones, vote the tax on the tobacco and is opposed to the rights of successiveness of the State on the goods of the emigrants. Member of the Senate as of his creation, the 4 Nivôse Year VIII (December 25th 1799), he is the rapporteur of the organic project of senatus consult of Thermidor 16 year X (August 4th 1802). He is named knight of the Légion of honor the 9 Vendémiaire An XII (October 2nd 1803), commander the 25 Prairial (June 14th), secretary of the Senate, count of the Empire the June 6th 1808 and large officer of the Légion of honor the June 30th 1811. In addition, it receives the Sénatorerie Rennes the 5 Vendémiaire An XII (September 28th 1803). Personality of the Digs, it chairs several times the electoral college of this department. In 1813, it is named extraordinary police chief in the 11th military Division.
In April 1814, it adheres to the forfeiture of Napoleon and is named even France the June 4th, at the time of the First Restoration. In this assembly, it defends freedom of the press, claims allowances for the victims of the political events and proposes to return to the emigrants their not-sold goods. During the Hundred Days, Napoleon confers peerage to him the June 2nd 1815. Excluded from the Room of the pars during the Second Restoration, by the ordinance of the July 24th 1815, it finds its seat thanks to Decazes the March 5th 1819. There, it defends the freedoms granted by the Charte and sits until its death, after having lent oath to Louis-Philippe I {{er}} in 1830.
In 1787, it marries Jeanne, girl of François Cellier of Montel, rider, captain with the Régiment Royal-The-Navy, with which it has several children: Joséphine, married in 1810 with Joseph-Charles Aubusson de Soubrebost, president of room at the court of Limoges and appointed; Julie, married in 1813 with the Viscount of Combarel; Etienne-Emile (1795 - 1870), appointed the Hollow one (1831) and par of France (1846); Adele, married to Lucien Arnault, prefect of the Meurthe.
