Joseph Butler (May 18th 1692 with Wantage, Berkshire - June 16th 1752), is a Philosophe and British theologist .
Biography
Joseph Butler made known himself as of the 21 years age by objections addressed to Clarke, and which are following the Traité existence of God . After having had various benefit, he became secretary of the cabinet of the queen Caroline, then bishop of Bristol (1738), and finally of Durham (1750).
He published in 1736 the Analogy of the natural and revealed religion with the course of the nature, works where one finds the answers most solid to several specious objections (translated into French, Paris, 1812).
There are also to him estimated sermons.
