Joseph Arthur

Joseph Arthur (born in 1969 with Akron, Ohio) is a singer American Pop-rock'n'roll , he is known like one of the principal users of the Oversampling, contributing largely to its promotion.

Its lives is very impressive, without any comparison with its albums studio, relatively traditional. It begins the majority of its song with the rhythmic ones which it repeats until finding a good end (" sample" in English) whom it then makes turn in loop or whom it keeps in reserve to mix it in the continuation of the piece. Thanks to many effects, it triturates the sounds until composing a single song each time, more or less improvised, but which, once all the samples turn in harmony, leaves without voice.

In addition, it has as a practice to paint during the spectacle a fabric, in a style " moderne" …, debatable, which approaches (vaguely) the fabrics of Basquiat…

Joseph Arthur records all his concerts during the spectacle, and you can leave with one, often two, CDs, any heats left the turns of engravers.

It is located in 1996 by Lou Reed and Peter Gabriel and signs with this last to leave its three albums on the label Real World: mature and promising the " Big city secrets" in 1997, entêtant it " like to where i' m from" in 2000 and perfect the " redemption' S son" in 2002… Unfortunately, in particular because of a promotion non-existent and a timid support, business success is not with return. The press knows that it holds a true genius there, one of the last giants of the music folk but the blackness and the anti play (creditable) of Joseph Arthur vis-a-vis calibrations of rigor make these splendid ones and essential albums of successes more than confidential.

Exhausted to have to convince without stop its financeurs, it leaves the label of Peter Gabriel who lets leave to back-plate his more beautiful signature.

Arthur threatens all to stop and finds finally a house, the Vektor label, to leave its fourth album, surprisingly different by its instrumentation (what destabilized some of them) and by two or three pieces which one could only with difficulty imagine to him.
