Biography
Cart-track obtained in 1843 French nationality. He was married in Madeleine Elisa Berrurier, girl of a Parisian butcher. He lived in Paris as of the 13 years or he began a training at one manufacturing of knives. In 1820 it established a company of manufacture of surgical instruments which counted approximately 400 employees around 1840.Among his disciples one finds: Georges-Guillaume-Amatus Lüer, Louis-Joseph Mathieu and Adolphe Collin in Paris, Josef Leiter with Vienna or Camillus Nyrop with Copenhagen. In 1851 Charrière was promoted as Officier of the Légion of Honor.
Terminology
The calibration of the Endoscope S and Cathéter S bears the name of cart-track (1 Ch. = 1/3 mm). Considering the French origin of this system, in the anglophone surgical jargon 1 French = 1 Ch. = 1/3 Misters.
