Joseph-Dominique Guay

Born with Chicoutimi the April 14th 1866, Joseph-Dominique Guay , wire of the merchant Johnny Guay was a Québécois business man and politician.

Implied in all kinds of companies, Joseph-Dominique Guay founds, in 1887, the newspaper the Progress Of Saguenay, it publishes its first number on August 18th, 1888. During more than 20 years, he will be owner, editor and writer.

Elected official mayor of Chicoutimi in 1895, initiator of the project of the C.P.C. it founds the company the November 24th 1896, while joining some friends whose young man of business, Julien-Edouard-Alfred Dubuc and names it Director-manager of the C.P.C. (Company of Pulp of Chicoutimi).

He equipped the city with the electricity and a network of aqueducts, and resigns of his post of mayor after 7 years (1902) and turns over to his businesses (C.P.C., Progrès Of Saguenay). Return in 1922 to the town hall. Die in Chicoutimi, the September 18th 1925.
