Joseph-Denis Odevaere

Joseph-Denis Odevaere (Or Joseph-Desired Odevaere, or Joseph Dionysius Odevaere) Bruges 1776-Brussels 1830)

After studies in the Academy of its birthplace, Odevaere went to Paris in the workshop of its compatriot Joseph-Benoit Suvée, then in that of David. In 1804 it gained the Prix of Rome with a table over the topic of the Mort of Phocion (Paris, 3Ecole Nationale Sup3erieure of the Art schools).
