Joseph-Charles Lefèbvre

Joseph Charles Lefèbvre , born the April 15th 1892 with Northern Tourcoing, and dead on April 2nd 1973 with Bourges, Cher) is a cardinal French, Archevêque of Bourges.

Joseph-Charles Lefèbvre studied catholic theology and philosophy in Lille and Rome. He served during the First World War during which he was wounded and made captive.

The December 17th 1921, it was ordered priest with Rome. Of 1924 until 1936, it worked as cleaned parish then directed the section of the personnel of évêché of Poitiers from which he was general vicar of 1936 with 1938. The July 27th 1938, it was named bishop of Troyes and was devoted the October 11th 1938. The June 17th 1943, he became archbishop of Bourges. The March 28th 1960, it was named cardinal by the pope Jean XXIII and became cardinal-priest of S. Giovanni Battista dei Fiorentini. Of 1962 with 1965, it took part in the Council of the Vatican and was member of the Conclave in 1963.

The October 10th 1969, it gave up its load of archbishop of Bourges and died the April 2nd 1973. It is buried in the cathedral.
