Joseph-Aurèle Plourde

Joseph-Aurèle Plourde (January 12th, 1915 -) is a Canadian prelate who was archbishop of Ottawa of 1967 with 1989.

Born with Saint-François-with-Madawaska, it was ordered priest with Edmundston in New Brunswick the May 7th 1944. In 1964, it was devoted bishop of Alexandria in Ontario by Sergio Pignedoli.

January 2nd, 1967, it is named with the episcopal see of Ottawa. It controlled the Church diocésaine federal capital during twenty-two years until in 1989. Its episcopate into practice put the reforms wanted by the council the Vatican II.

He is now highly skilled bishop of this évêché. He was named officer of the Ordre of Canada.
