Josef Barák (January 26th 1833, Prague - November 15th 1883, Prague) was a politician, journalist and Czech poet. He was member of the literary group Májovci .

He was implied in the promotion of the culture and the Czech language at the end of the XIXe century at the time of the Czech national Renaissance. In particular he was a major writer of the newspaper Národní listy. He also took a share with the launching of the nationalist movement of the Sokol
