Jose Will square
Jose Will square (as a Catalan Josep Carreras I coll ), born in 1946, is a singer of opera (Ténor) Spanish, famous for its interpretations of works of Verdi and Puccini.
Biography
Born the December 5th 1946 with Barcelona, Jose Carreras made watch of an unquestionable talent for the music as of its more young age, at the time being fascinated by Caruso. Its first public service took place whereas it was old only eight years, singing Gave It E Mobile to the Spanish national radio . At the eleven years age, it occurred in Liceu as male soprano in the role of the narrator in the El retablo of Maese Pedro of Falla then in another role of second plan in the second act of Bohemian the .
Will square studied with the Conservatorio Superior de Música del Liceo. It made its beginnings in Liceu, in the role of Flavio, Norma , at the sides of the famous soprano Montserrat Caballé, who interpreted the “title role”. Cabal having noticed the talent of the young tenor, it worked to make him obtain a leading role in Lucrezia Borgia , of Gaetano Donizetti.
Will square again on the occasion to sing with Montserrat Caballé in 1971, at the time of its London beginnings, in Maria Stuarda , then in about fifteen other productions during the following years.
In 1972, it made its beginnings on an American scene , interpreting the role of Pinkerton in Mrs Butterfly . In 1974, it is with Vienna that it occurred for the first time, in the role of the duke of Mantoue
It was calculated that at the 28 years age, Jose Carreras had already interpreted 24 roles different from “tenor high-speed motorboat” of the lyric repertory.
In 1987, whereas it was at the top of its glory, of the doctors diagnosed an acute leukemia, by leaving him a chance on ten of survival. This disease stopped its career of singer during one happy new year. As of the following year, Jose Carreras created the Jose Carreras International Leukemia Foundation , charitable organization of support for research on the leukemia, to which it is always devoted, while giving, good year, badly year, an about sixty concerts each year in spite of a light transformation of its voice.
In 1990, hundreds of million televiewers of the whole world could see and intend the “Three Tenors” to give a concert for the opening of the Football world cup to Rome. This concert, initially intended to collect funds for the foundation Will square, was also the occasion of solemn meeting again between the tenor and his two fellow-members Luciano Pavarotti and Plácido Domingo.
In addition to the lyric art (the Beautiful canto), Carreras occurs in the kinds considered to be more “minor”, such as the Zarzuela. It also took part, on scene as in studio, in the Musical comedy West Side Story .
