Jose Roosevelt

Jose Roosevelt (born with Rio de Janeiro in 1958) is a draftsman Brésil alive IEN in Suisse.

Biography

Autodidact, Jose Roosevelt exposes for the first time in 1979 to Brasilia. Its tables truffles of symbols are deeply influenced by works of Jerome Bosch and El Salvador Dalí. It carries out its first cartoon, has Cidade , according to a part of Albert Camus, between 1983 and 1986. In 1987, it goes to Switzerland at the time of an exposure to Yverdon, meets his wife there and in 1990 settles definitively there. It exposes to Freiburg, Lausanne, and Gruyères. It starts to illustrate a play of Tarot S (accompanied by free poems of Marie-Claire Dewarrat), poems of Bernard Dimey ( capital Sins ), Alice with the country of the wonders

With the Clock , it creates in Cartoon an imaginary world postcataclysmic where the characters can have bodies of animals and where giant shells fly in the sky. One of the main characters, Juanalberto, is a duck strongly inspired of the drawings of Carl Barks, the father of Donald for Walt Disney. Roosevelt continues the exploration of this world and the life of its characters with the Table of Venus and In the shade of the shells , Romance graphs ambitious, of more than 150 pages, presenting often various reflections on the Art. Realistic, its drawing can put up with various techniques (feather, brush, washing).
