Jose Pekerman
Jose Pekerman (born the September 3rd 1949 in Villa Dominguez, Between Rios) is a trainer of Argentinian Football . It is currently without contract.
Pekerman did not gain much success as a player, he played for Argentinos Juniors (134 matches and 12 goals of 1970 to 1974) and the Independiente Medellín (101 matches and 15 goals of 1974 to 1977). He must stop his career because of a wound to the knee. In order to support its family, it is found to oblige to occupy of the precarious employment, as taxi driver.
As a trainer, it involved the hopes of Chacarita Juniors and Argentinos Juniors in Argentina like those of the Colo Colo with the Chile.
Because of its experiment with the young people, it was chosen, in 1994, as trainer of less than 17 years and less than 20 years Argentinian. And this, to the general surprise, its CV not comprising any major title. It involves with Hugo Tocalli and Eduardo Urtasun.
With the team of less 20ans, it gained three times the Football world cup of less than 20 years in 1995 (Qatar), 1997 (Malaysia) and 2001 (Argentine), and twice the Championnat of South America of less than 20 years in 1997 and 1999.
After the World cup 1998 in France, the Federation proposes in Pekerman to become the selector of the team has in order to replace Daniel Passarella, but he refuses and becomes Manager general and proposes Marcelo Bielsa for the station of selector. This last occupies the station until 2004 and its victory with the Olympic Games. The September 15th 2004 Pekerman accepts finally the proposal, grace in particular to the desistance from Carlos Bianchi, and becomes selector of the national team. It qualifies its team for the World cup 2006 in Germany.
In 2003, Pekerman leaves in Spain at the request of the Argentinian businessman Daniel Grinbank which has just bought the club of Leganés (D2). But the project fails and Pekerman returns to Argentina.
Pekerman is married, has two girls and three pets called Qatar, Malaysia and Argentina, of the name of the tournaments which it gained.
Just after the elimination of Argentina (1-1, 4 t.a.b 2) by Germany on June 30th, 2006 in quarterfinal of World, he resigns. ----
