Jose Maria Firns

Jose Maria Firns , born the March 28th 1960, is the Prime Minister for the Cape Verde since the 2001. He is member of the African Parti for independence Cape Verde (PAICV), one of the two principal parties of the country with the Mouvement for the democracy (MPD).

Firns was born in Santa Catarina on the island from São Tiago and studied with the Foundation Getúlio Vargas with the Brésil. It became active in policy at the end of the years 1980 within the section youth of the PAICV, then sole party. He was candidate of the PAICV, become opposition party meanwhile, with legislative of 1996 in the district of Santa Catarina. Firns was elected president of its party in June 2000, which it led to the victory at the time of legislative January 14th 2001, then with those of the January 22nd 2006.
