Jose María Morelos
Jose María Morelos there Pavón (September 30th 1765 with Valladolid, Mexico (today Morelia) - December 22nd 1815 in the village of San Cristóbal Ecatepec), was a monk and a Mexican rebel .
It followed its studies to the college San Nicolas of its birthplace, where he was the disciple of Gift Miguel Hidalgo there Costilla, which was the vice-chancellor.
In 1797, at the 32 years age, it is ordered priest, and will exert his priesthood in various parishes during thirteen years, before joining in 1810 the rebellion against the Spain carried out by its former professor Miguel Hidalgo, who will not be long in controlling a vast territory in the south of the Mexico.
After the capture and the execution of Hidalgo, Morelos was found in first line and became the chief of the rebellion.
Named with the head of the Junta it fought with effectiveness against the army of the viceroy and took the towns of Oaxaca (in 1812) and Acapulco, main port of the Mexico on the Pacific Ocean, the following year. With the end of the year 1813, it convenes the Congress of Chilpancingo, which adopts a declaration of independence, promulgates the first Constitution Apatzingán in 1814 and names it généralissime insurgent forces.
But, in December of this same year 1813, the royalist forces beat it with Santa María, consequently obliging it to carry out a defensive war. It is relieved of its load of généralissime, but will still form part of the triumvirate of the supreme Government.
Driven back by the troops sent by the viceroy Calleja, he did not manage to escape and was captured in November 1815.
Shown heresy, and subjected to the Enquiry, it was given to the civil authorities and shot the December 22nd 1815, in the small village of San Cristobal Ecatepec. After his death, its lieutenant Vicente Guerrero took the changing.
He is also the author of the liberal text Sentimientos of Nación .
Regarded as a national hero by the Mexicans, it was entitled to a double posthumous homage:

In 1828, its birthplace of Valladolid was débaptisée and re-elected Morelia in its honor;
- in 1869, the president Benito Juarez issued the creation of the State which bears its name still today: Morelos.
Its remainders rest in the Mausolée located at the base of El Ángel of Independencia to Mexico City, in company of those of: Juan Aldama, Ignacio Allende, Nicolás Cheer, Vicente Guerrero, Miguel Hidalgo there Costilla, Jose Mariano Jiménez, Mariano Matamoros, Francisco Javier Undermined, Andrés Quintana Roo, Leona Vicario and Guadalupe Victoria.
