Jose Manuel Restrepo

Jose Manuel Restrepo is a Politician, a historian and a Botaniste Colombia N, born in 1781 and died in 1863.

After studies with the college of San Bartolomé (Bogotá), he becomes lawyer then secretary of the dictator of Antioquia, Juan del Corral as well as governor Dionisio Tejada. In 1811 and 1814, it is appointed for Antioquia with the congress of the plain provinces of the News-Grenade. After independence, he is governor of Antioquia in 1819. Restrepo is also interested in the geography and the flora of the area of Antioquia. Of orchises Restrepia was dedicated to him by Karl Sigismund Kunth (1788-1850) in 1815.
