Presentation
Jose Candido is deposited the November 30th 1734 with the orphanage of Cadiz, but it is high with Chiclana of Frontera. Very young person, it is devoted to art taurin and becomes pupil of “Lorencillo”. It takes the alternate with Madrid (Spain) the May 25th 1756, with like godfather “Lorencillo” (according to other sources, Diego de Álamo “El Malagueño”). It seems that this alternative is the first. It should however be specified that at that time, it was enough that a beginner alternates with an experienced matador so that it from now on is regarded as “matador of toros”. This alternativee can thus be regarded as anecdotic. Jose Candido was one of the most famous matadors of her time, before “Costillares”, “Pepe Hillo” and Pedro Romero. The June 23rd 1771, in the Arenas of Puerto de Santa María, it is seriously wounded by a bull of the Ganadería of Bornos and dies ten hours after the accident. It has the unhappy privilege to inaugurate the Martyrologe bullfight.
One of its two sons, Jerónimo Jose, will be him also matador and will be one of most famous end of the 18th century.
