Jornada
Jornada is one of the principal Mexican daily newspapers, it is published in the capital of the country, with Mexico City, since 1984. This daily newspaper circulates in all the states of the Mexico, it has a leading line of center-left, it is one of the main actors of Mexican journalism since the begun democratic transition of the country a few years ago. The current director of the newspaper is Carmen Lira Saade.
The sales of this newspaper reach 50,000 specimens, however the number of reader was estimated at 287,000.
Leading line
The leading line of Jornada is located center-left at the left according to the opinions.For several years, this daily newspaper has been very known for its Caricaturistes, and its criticisms relatively strong against the Mexican government, particularly during the dictatorship of the political party PRI from which dismantling began in 2000. In addition, Jornada was always one of the relay runners of the social problems of the country.
Until end 2006 and the end of the presidency of Vicente Fox, Jornada will have been a very strong criticism of the policy practiced by the political party of right-hand side SIDE. Principal criticisms aim in particular the reforms of Vicente Fox about the Economic liberalization, as well as the treatment inflicted at the Indian communities. Jornada always showed besides a sympathy to the Zapatist Mouvement, like to the PRD and its leader and candidate with the Mexican presidency Andrés Manuel López Obrador. In confrontation between these two actors of the Mexican left, the newspaper positioned in favor of the candidate.
Several figures of the Altermondialisme regularly take part in the article of Jornada like the Under-commander Marcos, Noam Chomsky or Jose Saramago.
Lately, the daily newspaper was one of the most important advisers of the events of Oaxaca. Jornada followed since the beginning the Grève of the professors in Oaxaca then the Révolte of Oaxaca after the installation of the Popular Assembly of the people of Oaxaca (APPO), becoming the spokesperson of this organization prohibited after the fires caused by its militants in the downtown area of Oaxaca.

In 1995, Jornada starts to publish a version of its daily newspaper on Internet. All the contents as well as the files of the newspaper are free at disposal of the Net surfers. Its Internet site is lodged by the autonomous National university of Mexico.
