Jools Holland

Julian Miles Holland , member of the Order of the British Empire, born the January 24th 1958 with London, is a Pianiste English and a presenter on television.

Holland is the founder of the famous group Squeeze, in which it dealt with the keyboards until in 1980, year to which it left the group to concentrate on his career solo (although it joined them later).

It had in fact started to leave the recordings in solo since 1978 (its first EP is entitled Boogie Woogie '78 ), and had continued this career until the beginning of the year 1980, while leaving an album and several individual between 1981 and 1984. It is however perhaps its career of presenter television who made it more famous, by presenting with Paula Yates the musical program of Newcastle entitled The Tube . Holland was made known by its use of the expression " groovy fuckers" on line on television, which caused the cancellation of three editions of the program as well as the ousting of Holland of the emission. It nevertheless benefitted from this episode while taking part in a sitcom called " The Groovy Fellers" with Rowland Rivron.

In 1985, Squeeze (which had continued its career until in 1982, in spite of the absence of its founder) was reformed against any waiting. Holland returned to play of the keyboard in the group until in 1990, when it decided once again to separate from Squeeze in good terms in order to take again its careers of musician in solo and presenter.

Thus, since 1992, it presented the eclectic musical program Later with Jools Holland , as well as the annual spectacle of the new year Hootenanny, and got rid of its image of " bad garçon" to become a respected musician.

The singers Sam Brown and Ruby Turner often unite in concert with its group The Rhythm And Blues Orchestrated .

Holland is unconditional series worship of the years 1960 " the prisoner " , and has several costumes and various objects of the series. He saw in the zone of the Westcombe Park of Blackheath, in the south-east of London, where it its studio built according to its own design, vaguely inspired of the Portmeirion where is supposed to be held the series that he so much affectionate.

One also could see Holland with the cinema in 1997, in the film SpiceWorld, where he played the part of a leader.

It was made member of the Ordre of the British Empire in 2003 in the list of the honors of the queen, to have rendered service with English music industry as a musician and a presenter. It also publishes, and often appears in other television programs and radiophonic. In 2004, it collaborated with Tom Jones on an album of traditional music R&B. In January 2005, it and its group gave a concert with Eric Clapton as head of poster of the Tsunami relief concert to the Millennium Stadium.

The August 29th 2005, Holland married Christabel McEwen, the ex-wife of Edward Lambton, Lord Durham. The marriage took place with St James' S Church, with Cooling, close to Rochester, and assisted to with it stars like Ringo Starr, Robbie Coltrane, Stephen Fry and Dawn French, like Lenny Henry, Tim Pope, Lulu, Jennifer Saunders and Adrian Edmondson.

In September 2006, it was made " Deputy Lieutenant " of Kent.
