Jonty Harrison
Jonty Harrison (April 27th 1952, Scunthorpe, the United Kingdom) is a type-setter of Musique electroacoustic resident with Birmingham, the United Kingdom.
Jonty Harrison obtained a Doctorate in composition of University off York in 1980 when he studied with Bernard Rands. Resident in London between 1976 and 1980, it worked with the National Theater where it carried out soundtracks for several productions, of which Tamburlaine the Great , Julius Caesar , Brand and Amadeus . During this same period, he also worked in City University. During several years, he was member of the council of Sonic Arts Network (SAN) of which he assumed the presidency of 1993 to 1996. He also sat at the board of directors and the office of Society for the Promotion off New Music and was member of the advisory committee of the music of The Arts Council off Great Britain.
As type-setter, Jonty Harrison was seen decreed various prices and distinctions within the framework of the international Contest of music electroacoustic of Bourges, whose gold Euphony for Klang in 1992 qu ' one then qualified “one of the most outstanding œ uvres” of the history of the competition of Bourges. To that orders of the International Computer Music Association (ICMA) are added, of MAFILM /Magyar Rádió (Budapest), IRCAM/Ensemble intercontemporain (Paris), BBC, the Council of town of Birmingham, Birmingham Contemporary Music Group, Fine Arts Arm Together, Nash Ensemble, of Singcircle, John Harle, Beverly Davison, Harry Sparnaay and Jos Zwaanenburg. In spite of the fact that in 1992 it gave up the instrumental composition, it creates Abstracts , a work for band eight tracks and full orchestra, and, in 1998, a work intended for the dance.
