One calls jonquil several generally herbaceous plants.
In the kind Narcissus
- the true jonquil, and the only one which should be called thus, is Narcissus jonquilla .
- Nevertheless, another species, more common, are also called “Jonquil”, can-even more often than the preceding species. It is about the yellow Narcisse, Narcissus pseudonarcissus .
Other jonquils
- Jasminum odoratissimum , species of the family of the Oleaceae , is sometimes called “Jasmine jonquil” because of its pleasant odor.
