Jonque

A jonque is a Bateau with hull compartmentalized like the structure of the bamboo, with veils with the " three quarts" , entirely latées " flottantes" and with Tack slipping or reversible, traditionally used in Asia. By " jonque" one indicates also the Gréement typically used on these Voilier S.

Sailing ships

Gréement of jonque is composed of one or more entirely lathed veils and " compensées". Compensated, because the sail is beside the mast and exceeds slightly in front of this one. It is like a rudder compensated with a part in front of its axis. What distinguishes gréement from jonque from the Western gréements is the use of Latte S relatively heavy over the entire length of the fabric, thus dividing it into panels. These slats (generally in bamboos), which are held with the mast, stiffen the sail, hold its form and box the efforts on the sail. Each slat has its clean listening. The orientation of the veil is controlled by a network of listenings connected to a principal listening.

With all these reinforcements, the fabric is never heavily requested, by sailing highly reliable and durable.
