Jokioinen
Jokioinen ( Jockis in Swedish) is a municipality south-west of the Finland, in the area of the Kanta-Häme.
History
If the place is inhabited permanently as of the 14th century, the history of Jokioinen begins truly with the foundation of the Manoir of the same name in 1562. It quickly becomes the most important manor of Finland (with 36.000 hectares towards 1770), and still gathers at the beginning of the 20th century the large majority of the industry of the commune (sawmill, construction materials, forging mill, production of Sucre…). It was split and partially nationalized in 1918. Not very front, the owners had largely financed a railway with spacing reduced until Humppila, which strongly contributed to the economic development of the commune until á its closing in 1974.The parish becomes autonomous in 1693, and the commune is founded in 1873, after separation with Tammela.
After difficult times during the Years 1960 and 1970 marked by a major reduction in the population, the commune is today quiet suburbs of the small town of Forssa, with the stable population.
Geography
In spite of its small size, common the account nevertheless 14 villages. The administrative center is at 9 km in the west of the center of Forssa, crossed by the river Loimijoki.The commune is crossed by the trunk road 10 connecting Turku to Hämeenlinna, but also by main road 2 between Helsinki and Pori.
In addition to Forssa in the east, the common neighbors are Tammela in the east, Humppila in north, Ypäjä in the west and Somero in the south (Finland of South-west).
