Joinville-le-Pont is a common French, located in the department of the Valley-of-Marne and the area Île-de-France.
The inhabitants of Joinville-le-Pont are called Joinvillais.
Geography
Joinville-le-Pont is surrounded of the communes of Nogent-sur-Marne, Champigny-sur-Marne, Saint-Maur-of-Ditches, Houses-Alfort, Saint-Maurice and Paris via the Bois of Vincennes.
The city is crossed in its medium by the Marne which separates the city into two: in the east, bottom of Joinville and with the west top of Joinville. The island Fanac occupies the bed of the river, while the island of the Saints Fathers is delimited by the channel known as of Maur Saint, who allows to avoid with the boats an important loop. A channel, known as Ru of Polangis, curves in the district of the same name.
The top of Joinville includes/understands the district of the center, the Vautier district and the district of the Canadians, while bottom includes/understands the districts Polangis and Palissy.
The city is crossed of is in west by the main road 4 which spans the Marne by the famous bridge of Joinville which takes support on the island Fanac. It is served by a station of the line of transport regional express the RER has.
History
Joinville was in the beginning attached to the town of Saint-Maur. It was called initially, after the Revolution, Connect-of-Bridge-of-Saint-Maur . Then, François of Orleans, prince de Joinville, wire of Louis Philippe gives his name to the village in 1831 with which one associates “- the-Bridge” to avoid confusion with Joinville in Haute-Marne.The first mention of the bridge (Olin Bridge) goes up with 1205. April 25th 1590; the future Henri IV, king de Navarre, takes the bridge with two pieces of artillery and 15.000 men. In 1649, the bridge is destroyed by the partisans of the Fronde. In 1652, the soldiers of the Condé make in the same way.
March 30th 1814, the French Army is beaten by the Austrian regiments, wurtembourgeois and cossacks around the bridge. The battle makes 265 dead. Corpses were withdrawn from the Marne for two months.
From November 30th to December 2nd, 1870, a battle takes place with Champigny and Joinville between the French and German troops, while the national troops destroyed the bridge of Joinville. One will count 2.000 dead.
The town of Joinville particularly known since the 19th century for its guinguettes, is installed along the Marne. The Parisian ones came to spend their Sunday at the edge of water there by using the railway line Bastille/the Game preserve, become today the line of the RER has.

In 1987, the Studios of Joinville television are closed and transferred to Bry-sur-Marne.

The Marne with Joinville

One can also quote Burnout melody punk-rock'n'roll group created in 1998, dissolved in February 2007, like Game over , group of rap fusion Algerian made up in 1997, whose singer, Djo, settled with Joinville and finally The Dorks which was formed in 2004 and which ended in 2007 of which Johanna (Low) and Sarah (Battery) which live Joinville.
