The guanaco ( LAMA guanicoe ) is a camélidé wild present in South America. Connected with the LAMA it was not domesticated, contrary to this last. Analyzes Génétique S showed that the LAMA goes down in fact from the guanaco.
The fur of the guanaco is uniformly brown and reddish: its muzzle and its ears are gray noirâtre, while the belly or of the legs are white. The guanaco measurement nearly 1 meter 10 with the garrot. Seldom going up to more than 3.000 meters of altitude, it is met southernmost Peru with the Ground of Fire; currently it is more widespread in Patagonie where it live generally into small groups of scores of individuals led by a Mâle dominating.
The principal natural enemies of the guanaco are the Puma and for the young animals, the Condor. However the man exterminating the animals for their fur of quality constitutes the most frightening enemy.
