Johnny Kidd

Johnny Kidd , of its true name Frederick Heath (November 23rd 1935 - October 8th 1966) is a Chanteur and British guitarist of Rock' roll . He is the author of traditional the Shakin' All Over with his group the Pirates .

Born in Willesden in England, Johnny Kidd makes its beginnings thanks to the Skiffle. It assembles several groups before training the Pirates. They play of the titles of Rhythm and black blues of Bo Diddley or Arthur Alexander. They leave their first 45 turns in 1959 at HMV: Please Don' T Touch/Growl , two original compositions of Kidd. Affublé of a stringcourse of pirate on the eye, it leaves Shakin' All Over in 1960, one of the three best pieces of the British rock' roll, n°1 in August. It turns in 1961 with Gene Vincent and Vince Taylor and in 1962 with Jerry Lee Lewis. Always including many standards of the rhythm & blues in its repertory it will have a deep influence on the young English groups which will explode soon.

In 1963, I' L Never Get Over You is classified with the 4ère place of the best British sales and Hungry For Love n°20. They connect the rounds in company of the Rolling Stones, of the Ronettes, Manfred Mann… It re-records Shakin' All Over in 1965. and leaves its last disc in November 1966. Of return in a concert, Johnny Kidd is victim of an car accident with Bury and dies on the blow.

Johnny Kidd And The Pirates had a strong influence on artists such as Dr. Feelgood or Alain Bashung in France. Certain members of the Pirates played then with other groups like Billy J. Kramer & The Dakota or The Animals. Shakin' All Over became traditional rock'n'roll taken again by many artists like Vince Taylor, The Who, Suzi Quatro or Iggy Pop.
