John William Lubbock

Sir John William Lubbock (March 26th 1803 - June 21st 1865), 3rd baronet, was a banker, mathematician and British astronomer .

Lubbock is born in Westminster, wire of John Lubbock, 2nd bank manager Baronnet Lubbock & Co. He studies with the Collège of Eton then to the Trinity College of Cambridge until in 1825. After its studies it joined the bank of his father.

In 1828 he becomes member of the Royal Astronomical Society and in 1829 member of the Royal Society of which he is twice treasurer (1830-1835 and 1838-1845) and three times vice-president (1830-1835, 1836-1837 and 1837-1846). It receives the royal Médaille for its studies of the Marée S.

Lubbock is vice-chancellor of the Université of London of 1837 with 1842. Lubbock takes the head of the firm of his/her father, Lubbock & Co then is withdrawn into 1840 whole while preserving a right to watch on the bank formed by fusion with Roberts to create Roberts, Lubbock & Co in 1860.

It Marie with Harriet Hotham in 1833 and have eleven children.
