John Wetton

John Wetton is a Bassiste, Chanteur and British Guitariste of Rock born the July 17th 1949 with Derby, Derbyshire (England).

Biography

Participations

John Wetton is a professional musician since the end of the year 1960, and was member of the groups Mogul Thrash, Family, King Crimson, Roxy Music, Uriah Heep, the U.K., Wishbone Ash and Asia. Wetton is now an artist solo, after having left Asia for the second time in 1992.

Styles

Wetton is initially recognized for the powerful sound of its low and its capacities of improvisation (as show it the box of recordings in concert of King Crimson “The Great Deceiver” as well as other sources). Although its musical career since the years 1980 took a more commercial turning (the first album of Asia, in 1982, is the most sold its career), it is also a type-setter at the origin of some of the most beautiful melodies of the groups to which it belonged, in particular King Crimson.

Collaborations

It always knew to be surrounded exceptional musicians, like Robert Fripp (guitar) and Bill Bruford (battery), or Eddie Jobson (keyboards, violin) or Terry Bozzio (battery), with which it unceasingly made of new groups and created new songs.

Today

Currently, he seldom plays of low, privileging an approach song writer and performer which puts frequently ahead the use of the acoustic guitar.
