John Tenniel

John Tenniel (February 28th, 1820 in London - February 25th, 1914) is a British illustrator, in particular known for the illustrations of the novel of Lewis Carroll, Alice with the country of the wonders (1866). It was one of the first to represent the Father Christmas in 1850.

It also drew many caricatures for the Punch review at the end of 19th.

It was initially formed only, before entering to the Royal Academy. In 1836, it off subjected its first drawing to the exposure of Society British Artists. In 1845, it off subjected a paperboard entitled An Allegory Justice to a contest for mural decorations of the new palate of Westminster. It received for that a purse of 200 pounds and an order for a fresco in the House of Lords.
